Liverpool

Historical Background

Liverpool Football Club is considered one of the most successful clubs in the UK and has thousands of loyal supporters who, week in, week out, watch Liverpool on tv or find a Liverpool live stream to watch the action online. They even have their own TV channel on Sky and Virgin, LiverpoolFCTV, which says it all about their popularity.

Liverpool has a history that stretches back nearly 127 years ago, with much of that time being filled with glory. They have nearly always been at the forefront of top-flight football, particularly during the 70s and 80s, but have seen continuous success for much of the latter part of the 21st century. Thus, Liverpool on TV events have always been a spectacle.

Although they are considered one of the best teams in English football, during the last 10 years or so, they have gained a bit of a reputation as "bottlers" by getting very close to League titles and Cup wins, only to fall at the final hurdle. That said, over the last couple of years they have a seen massive resurgence and many fans feel they are back on track for greatness.

Crest and Colours

Liverpool is well-recognisable by their all-red strip which has been their kit since the mid-60s and has made their club and Liverpool on TV games instantly recognisable. Their Liver Bird logo is also very iconic and recognisable. Ironically though, in their conception, they wore white and blue, which is nowadays more associated with their Merseyside rivals, Everton.

Key Players and Managers

Since 2015, their manager has been Jurgen Klopp. He has done wonders at the club and he has been credited by many fans as being the driving force in their resurgence over the last couple of years. Since being in charge, he has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. This year, he is hoping for more success.

Their most key player at the moment is probably, Mohamed 'Mo' Salah. Last year, he was influential in their success and won the Premier League golden boot. Although he has been less of a force this season, he is still their joint-leading goalscorer, alongside Sadio Mane.

Honours

Over their history, the team has won 6 European Cups 3 UEFA Cups, 4 UEFA Super Cups, 19 League titles, 8 FA Cups, 9 League Cups, and 15 FA Community Shields. As well as this, they are one of the highest earning football clubs in the UK.

Noteworthy Stats

Of these honours mentioned above, they hold two records for their achievements. The biggest of the two is their 5 European Cups, as they have won the most out of all clubs in the UK and the 3rd most wins of their competition ever. As well as this, they also hold the record for most League Cup wins.

Memorable TV Moments

One of the most memorable Liverpool on TV moments and also probably one of the best memorable moments in Champions League football history was their win against AC Milan in 2005.  After going into half-time 3-0 down, many thought all hope was lost. However, the clawed back 3 goals in the second half before winning on penalties to clinch their 5th Champions League title.
