Manchester City moved within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal at the weekend, while Leicester City jumped away from the bottom of the table with a morale-boosting defeat of Wolves. Despite the Foxes climbing out of the relegation zone, the Leicester v Man City betting odds point towards a victory for the Premier League champions, who lost their last away game at Liverpool.
Fantastic Foxes on a roll
Following a shocking start to the new campaign, Leicester seem to have found form. They have taken 10 points from their last five five games since suffering an embarrassing thrashing against Spurs.
Leicester have tightened up at the back since conceding six in that game. They have kept three clean sheets in a row but it will be a mighty challenge to do so again when they face Erling Haaland and Co. Brendan Rodgers’ side have conceded only one goal in their last four Premier League games, which suggests that some of the issues they were facing at the back have since been ironed out.
That said, Leicester did lose their last match against City 6-3, which is a clear reason why the Leicester v Man City betting odds have indicated it should be the visitors who are celebrating at the end of this one. The handicap markets could provide value, however. Leicester +2 is offered at 11/10 with 888Sport here.
Haaland bounces back
After drawing a rare blank in the shock 1-0 Liverpool loss, Haaland roared back to form with a double as City won 3-1 against Brighton at the weekend to narrow the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table.
City have stumbled a bit of late, though, and that was their first win in three games in all competitions. Away from home, City have been a little out of sorts all season. They dropped points at both Newcastle and Aston Villa, as well as being held to a 0-0 draw in Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Nevertheless, their Premier League form helps to explain why the Leicester v Man City betting odds suggest that this should be a victory for Pep Guardiola and his team. City have scored at least two goals in 18 of their last 20 matches in the Premier League, so Leicester’s revamped defence will be tested.
Those who are determined to back Guardiola’s men will also be interested to see that City have been winning at both half time and full time in five of their last seven matches in the Premier League. That means that the 3/4 with 888Sport for City HT/FT has to be of interest for Saturday’s early kick off. Haaland’s 17 goals is by far the most in the Premier League, meaning he will be of interest in the player props markets for this one, while Kevin De Bruyne’s nine assists places him top of that category as well.
Predictions
The goalscoring exploits of Guardiola’s team makes it very hard to side against them in the Leicester v Man City betting odds. City HT/FT could be a good place to start at 3/4 given they have led at both half time and full time in five of their past seven Premier League matches.
But Leicester’s newly resilient defence will not roll over without a fight. After three straight clean sheets at home in the league, the Foxes could be of interest on the handicap markets here. Leicester +2 is at 11/10 with 888Sport, meaning even if they lose the game by a single goal this bet would be a winner.
