Manchester City could welcome back their injured striker Erling Haaland for Saturday’s visit of Fulham, but the Premier League champions were able to win at Leicester City without their top goalscorer.
Fulham continue to be the Premier League’s surprise package, with a weekend draw at home to Everton meaning they have taken eight points from their last four games, sitting seventh in the league table. The Manchester City v Fulham betting odds point to a comfortable win for Pep Guardiola’s side, but is there any better value to be found than siding with the champions to collect yet another home league victory?
Will Haaland return for City?
The big question for City going into the weekend’s Premier League action is whether or not Haaland will be able to recover from ligament damage in time to take his place as the team’s main striking threat.
Haaland’s incredible start to life in the Premier League was halted by injury last weekend and City had to grind out a 1-0 win at Leicester in his absence.
A brilliant free-kick from Kevin De Bruyne proved the only goal of the game with the talismanic midfielder stepping up in the absence of the Norway hitman.
City have scored at least three goals in their last 10 home matches in the Premier League, but they have relied heavily on Haaland for firepower in front of their own fans.
Indeed, since City’s first game of the season against Bournemouth, Haaland has scored in every home game in all competitions. It therefore remains to be seen how City adapt if he misses out on playing for the second straight league match.
The City v Fulham betting odds point to an easy win for the champions but if Haaland is absent then Guardiola’s team might be in for a more difficult afternoon than the odds appear to suggest.
The last 12 meetings between the sides have all ended in wins to City, though, with that run covering all competitions including a 4-1 victory in the FA Cup back in February.
As City have been winning at both half time and full time in their last four home league matches, this seems a good option to explore at 4/9 with 888Sport, though the price is still a little low.
If Haaland is out, De Bruyne will be of interest as an any time goalscorer on the player props markets in the City v Fulham betting odds for Saturday’s game.
Fantastic Fulham on a roll
Most football fans would have tipped Fulham to be relegated this season. After all, the last couple of times they have been in the Premier League they have dropped straight back down to the Championship without making much of an impression on the top-flight. This season, however, is very different so far.
Fulham’s form shows no sign of abating with Marco Silva’s side having already racked up 19 points, leaving them just outside the top six and well on track to secure Premier League survival.
Away from home, things have been tricky at times for the Cottagers, who have lost three times in the capital, going down to defeats against Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham. Wins at Nottingham Forest and Leeds United shows they should have enough to steer clear of the bottom three this time out.
One concern for Silva could be the number of goals his side are conceding, even though their league position is pleasing. Fulham have shipped 11 goals in their last five away league games, which is an ominous record considering City have hit 27 goals at home already in the Premier League.
Goals therefore seem a safe bet for Saturday with Fulham having plenty of their own firepower in the form of striker Aleksandr Mitrovic, who is one of the top scorers in the league so far. City have conceded in three of their last five home league games, making the 19/20 with 888Sport for Fulham to score at least one goal seeming far too big a price.
Man City v Fulham Odds: Predictions
While the potential absence of Haaland is important to consider when assessing the City v Fulham betting odds, goals galore should be in the offing. Over 2.5 goals has landed in 13 straight City home league games, but 1/4 for that run to continue might be too low. With 14 goals in Fulham’s last three away league games having been scored, instead the 4/6 with 888Sport for over 3.5 goals looks good.
Fulham’s strong goalscoring record, coupled with City’s occasional lapses in defence, indicates that the price of 19/20 for Fulham to score at least once appears to be far too generous from 888Sport. Both teams to score is also an option at evens with 888Sport, while Fulham +2 on the handicap market, which is priced up at 43/20 in the City v Fulham betting odds, is another strong selection to think about here.
