The pressure is back on Steve Cooper’s shoulders after a thumping defeat at leaders Arsenal at the weekend left Nottingham Forest in danger of being left adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Brentford are Saturday’s visitors to the City Ground with the Bees also on a poor run of form, having failed to win any of their last four away league games. They drew 1-1 at home to Villa last time out.
The Bees took four points from two Championship games against the Midlands outfit the last time they met, in the 2020-21 season, but where is the value in the Nottingham Forest v Brentford betting odds?
Forest cut down from Liverpool high
That famous 1-0 win over Liverpool already feels as if it was a long time ago for Forest, with a 5-0 thrashing at Arsenal last time out leaving Cooper’s men three points from Premier League safety.
At the City Ground, however, Forest have enjoyed home comforts with seven of the nine Premier League points they have collected so far coming in front of their own fans.
Beating Liverpool is the only win Forest have put on the board in their last 11 matches in the Premier League, though, which helps to explain how the bookmakers have priced up the Nottingham Forest v Brentford betting odds.
Forest have struggled for goals of late. A solitary strike in the 1-0 win over Liverpool is the only time that they have found the net in their last four Premier League games. Cooper is yet to find a formula that fits with Forest having spent a huge amount of money on new additions to their squad over the summer.
The 1/2 with 888Sport for Forest to score under 1.5 goals is not the biggest price but it should be a strong selection to kick things off for this game given their problems hitting the back of the net of late.
Bees need to bounce back on the road
Thomas Frank’s side have lost 5-1 at Newcastle and 4-0 at Aston Villa in their last two Premier League away games, so something has to change if Brentford are to arrest their recent slide down the table.
The Bees still sit in a relatively comfortable mid-table position, just outside the top half, but having taken only three points away from home so far this season it is clear where they still need to improve.
Last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Wolves showed some better defensive resilience, though without Ben Mee’s first goal for the club it might have ended up being a goalless draw on the day.
Ruben Neves soon hit back for Wolves and the strugglers were able to claim a point for their trip home.
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 11 of Brentford’s last 13 away games in the league, suggesting this could be a fun game for the neutrals to watch on Saturday.
At 10/11 with 888Sport, over 2.5 goals feels like a good place to start in the Nottingham Forest v Brentford betting odds as a result of that trend. The 11/8 on the Bees to score over 1.5 goals is another potential avenue to consider for Saturday’s Premier League game.
Predictions
With both sides finding form elusive, the Nottingham Forest v Brentford betting odds are tricky to assess.
Forest’s win over Liverpool in their last home Premier League match showed they can beat anyone on their day, but that is the only match in their last four in which they have scored. The 1/2 at 888Sport for Forest to score under 1.5 goals appeals.
Brentford, meanwhile, have suffered two big defeats in their last pair of road trips in the league. Their games tend to provide goals – over 2.5 goals has only failed to land in two out of 13 away league games for the Bees – so the 10/11 with 888Sport for over 2.5 goals stands out as a good value pick here.
The Bees are also tempting at 11/8 with 888Sport to score over 1.5 goals, while a 2-1 win to Brentford looks a good option from the correct scores odds at 888Sport, offered at a big price of 17/2.
