Tottenham’s charge up the table was stalled in midweek by a derby draw away to West Ham, but their unbeaten Premier League run now stands at 11 games ahead of Fulham’s visit at the weekend.
The Cottagers have had a surprisingly strong start to the campaign, taking seven points from their three home games, but they have found life tougher on the road so far this season.
Spurs need Son to step up
Tottenham are sitting pretty in third, but there are concerns over the slow start to the season being endured by Son Heung-min, who is yet to score and has provided a sole assist for Antonio Conte’s side.
Fortunately for Spurs, star striker Harry Kane has been in good form with four goals in five games, which has helped to make up for Son’s lack of effectiveness. Son’s place is not likely to be under threat, though.
Spurs have won eight of their last nine home league games, with their excellent results in front of their own fans dating back to last season. It is therefore no surprise to see they are strong favourites in the Tottenham v Fulham betting odds to win, especially as Spurs have not lost in the last seven meetings between the sides in all competitions, a run that dates all the way back to 2013.
Spurs games have been tight affairs this season and this one is likely to be close too. Spurs to win with both teams to score is a tempting 19/10 at 888Sport, which offers 7/1 on a 2-1 home win.
Mitrovic scoring streak to continue?
Aleksandar Mitrovic only scored three times the last time Fulham were in the Premier League, but with five strikes already this term he is proving to be a serious handful for top-flight defences.
The Serbia striker has scored in every game this season bar the goalless draw at Wolves, when he failed to convert a late penalty, so the 17/10 at 888Sport for him to score any time on Saturday appeals.
Fulham are winless in their last seven Premier League away games, though, so it is hard to see them taking all three points, even against a Spurs side that is yet to find top gear. The Cottagers have also lost six of their last seven games against Spurs, but a strong start to the campaign means they can make the short trip across London with a high level of confidence.
Fulham’s last three games have all seen over 2.5 goals scored, so even at a short price of 13/20 with 888Sport this is probably worth considering as well.
Predictions
Spurs supporters were frustrated with their side’s below-par performance in midweek so there ought to be a reaction from the team on Saturday. Fulham are unlikely to roll over, though, with Marco Silva’s side enjoying life back in the Premier League.
Tottenham to win with both teams to score is worth taking on at 19/10 at 888Sport, with the 7/1 on a 2-1 home win standing out as good value on the correct scores market. Mitrovic’s scoring streak could continue – the striker has scored in four out of five league games this term – and he is a tempting 17/10 at 888Sport to score any time.
