Last result: Arsenal 2-0 Leicester City
Match week 2 of the Premier League sees Arsenal host Leicester City. Last time the sides met it was fairly routine for Arsenal. Leicester were lacklustre in the final third and couldn’t penetrate Arsenal’s net. Goals from Thomas Partey and Alex Lacazette were enough to see off the Foxes 2-0.
Arsenal off to a flyer
Arsenal opened their Premier League campaign with an away day in the capital against Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace. The young Gunners looked sharp on the day, particularly in attack. Martinelli opened the scoring after new signing Zinchenko cushioned the ball on from a corner, and Saka helped double their lead after his cross was deflected in by Marc Guehi.
After missing out on top four last season, Arsenal were extremely dissatisfied. This season they will give it their all to claim that fourth spot or win the Europa League. New signings Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko will all certainly play a part.
Arteta will be searching for back-to-back wins in his opening two as his side welcome Leicester. The two once battled for the title back in 2016, which ended up being the last time either side made the top four! Both sides will want better than last season and three points would be perfect for them.
We can see Gabriel Jesus opening his Premier League account for Arsenal, his debut showed his great work ethic and ability to close down opponents to apply pressure, but we all know goals are his bread and butter. Jesus to score against Leicester anytime is currently at 21/20!
Leicester still signing-less!
Leicester City remain the only side in the top 5 European leagues not to have made a single signing. According to reports they are only willing to sign players if they sell. Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and Wesley Fofana have all been linked with exits but nothing concrete has been agreed yet.
Brendan Rodgers has assured Leicester fans that Fofana and Maddison are not for sale, but with the right bid- who knows? As of now they’re both Leicester players who will give their all for the badge.
The Foxes hosted Brentford in their first game of the season. Their performance wasn’t great. They went 2-0 up in the first half with goals from Dewsbury-Hall and Castagne but they let Brentford back into it in the second half. They will need to show more resilience when they face Arsenal, as a side with their quality will smell blood and run riot.
If you’re backing the Foxes, the Arsenal vs Leicester odds are very favourable. The Midlands side are 11/2 to claim victory, or 10/1 with both teams to score!
Arsenal vs Leicester odds and predictions
The Arsenal vs Leicester odds favour Arsenal as winners and honestly, so do we!
It won’t be plain sailing, Leicester will be more than ready for their Emirates trip with lessons learned and three points on their mind, but Arsenal’s fire power will be too much for them.
Arsenal will run out winners with both teams scoring. As for the score- 3-1. This comes in at 12/1 odds on Bet365.
Will you be backing Arteta’s Champions League hunting Gunners? Or do Leicester have a stronger chance than we think?
