Crystal Palace vs Arsenal Odds, Preview, and Breakdown

The Premier League season kicks off on Friday August 5th at 20:00 at Selhurst Park, with two London sides, Crystal Palace and Arsenal going head to head. These two often produce games with very high entertainment. Arsenal have failed to beat Palace on the last two occasions that they’ve met. The last two results being a 3-0 defeat and 2-2 draw.

Can the Eagles soar under Patrick Vieira?

Crystal Palace are gonna mean business in the 2022/23 season, manager Patrick Vieira has already made some smart signings to strengthen his Palace side. Young Guinean midfielder Chieck Doucoure has come in to replace Gallagher who returned to Chelsea from loan, Sam Johnstone has come in on a free and prospect Malcom Ebiowei has signed from Derby County.

This will only boost them next season as they target a top half finish and potentially- European football.

They will be looking to start the season well against an Arsenal side that is full of youth and hunger to push on and compete in the Premier League. If you’re looking to back Crystal Palace in this one, we’d suggest betting on them to win 2-1 at 12/1 via Bet365. This is a likely result if Palace are to win, but the more likely outcome is the away side winning.

Will Arsenal’s busy window prove successful?

Arsenal are heading into the season with a few new signings- Fabio Vieira signed from Porto, Alex Zinchenko from Manchester City and their marquee signing of the summer- Gabriel Jesus from Man City. These three signings cost a total of around £110 million. Another summer of big spending for the Gunners.

It is likely that we’ll see Arsenal lineup in a 4-2-3-1 formation with a front four consisting of:

  • Bukayo Saka
  • Martin Ødegaard
  • Gabriel Martinelli
  • Gabriel Jesus

This is a very strong attack and could cause some real problems for a lot of Premier League clubs, never mind Palace! Gabriel Jesus finally has a starting place up top that won’t be interrupted. He’ll be after goals this season and who better to supply them in that Arsenal side than Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. The two playmakers create bags of chances between them and will make Jesus feel right at home after leaving City.

Manager, Mikel Arteta will be desperate to start the season well after an appalling start last season, losing 2-0 at newly promoted Brentford. But Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace will have their own plans for the first day of the season which, if all goes to plan, will see Arsenal drop all three points.

Being the first televised game of the season (Sky Sports) Crystal Palace vs Arsenal betting will be hot, Bet365 have some great odds.

  • Arsenal to win 2-0- 9/1
  • Arsenal to win and both teams to score- 10/1
  • Arsenal to win both halves- 5/1

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal Predictions

I can see Arsenal coming out of the blocks quickly against Palace, scoring early in the first half and in the second to win the game 2-0. If you’re to bet on a  2-0 win you’ll get 9/1 odds at Bet365.

I think the scorers will be Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, the odds for specific scorers are not yet available though, keep posted for that.

The game will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports at 20:00 on Friday August 5th. It’s that start of the Premier League, the notorious first game, the game that sets the tone for the rest of the season. Will it be a victory for Crystal Palace or will Arsenal’s new boys rain on the Eagles and secure three points?
