Barcelona visit arch-rivals Real Madrid in the first El Clasico 2021 on Saturday, April 10, at 20:00. The Spanish classic could not come at a more exciting time. Only two points separate the two clubs in La Liga with 9 more matches to play.
Real Madrid vs Barcelona
⏰ Saturday (April 10) | 20:00
📺 Premier Sports 1, La Liga TV & bet365
Barcelona have not lost a league game since early December and are now just one point behind leaders Atlético Madrid after a disastrous start to the season.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, can also put themselves in pole position with a win and overtake Barcelona. Real should go into the game with a lot of confidence after their 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League. We expect a hectic game in Madrid.
FC Barcelona look to continue winning streak
After Barcelona’s defeat against Cadiz on matchday 12, they were in fifth place, a full ten points behind Atlético. Since then, however, Barca have not lost a single match in La Liga. Messi and Co. have won 16 of their last 19 matches. They also won the last 6 games in a row, including twice against Sevilla and Real Sociedad. They managed an impressive 6:1 at the newly crowned cup winners 2020.
In the last match, FC Barcelona faced Real Valladolid. For a long time it looked like they would struggle against the bottom team. However, in the last minutes of the game Ousmane Dembélé scored the goal of the day for three very important points.
Real Madrid on the up
Real Madrid are also in excellent form. Since the end of November, they have lost only one league match. Since this 2-1 defeat against Alaves at the end of November, they have 14 wins, four draws and only one defeat (1-2 against Levante) in La Liga. Most recently, they beat Eibar 2-0 at home in Madrid after goals from Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid, unlike Barcelona, were in Champions League action during the week. They beat Liverpool surprisingly easy with a 3:1 victory in Madrid. Vinícius Júnior was the man of the match with two goals, while Marco Asensio scored the third for Real.
El Clasico 2021: Clash for the titel?
For a long time, Atlético looked like the certain future Spanish champions. Diego Simeone’s team had a 10-point lead at one point. Recently, however, Atletico lacked consistency. Barcelona have moved to within one point and Real Madrid are only three points behind.
Accordingly, despite sitting on top, Atletico is not the favourite for the titel anymore. The El Clasico, on the other hand, could provide an important impulse for the decision. It is difficult to pick a favourite, as both teams have been in similarly strong form in recent weeks.
El Clasico 2021 on TV and live stream
The match will be broadcast on Saturday 10 April at 8pm on Premier Sports 1 and La Liga TV. There will also be a El Clasico live stream via bet365.
