The Spaniards reached the semi-finals in the last tournament, whilst the Croatians have a bronze and silver medal from their last two World Cup attempts. Spain Searching for Fresh EURO Success

Together with the host nation Germany, Spain shares the record for the most titles in European Championship history with 3. The last time ‘La Roja’ went all the way to the top was back in 2012, while in the previous championship they made it to the semi-finals where they lost on penalties against Italy.

They are again among the contenders for the gold in 2024, and for this summer’s championship coach Luis de la Fuente brings a strong squad. It features veterans such as Carvajal, Rodri and Morata, as well as young stars such as Pedri and Lamine Yamal.

The Spaniards easily won their last two friendly matches before leaving for Germany, 5-0 against neighbouring Andorra and 5-1 against Northern Ireland. They have won eight of their last ten games, so there is no doubt that Spain are ready for the tournament.

Croatia Unusually Weak Ahead of EURO 2024

The Croatians have impressed in the last two World Cups, where they have taken home silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022. It is therefore startling to see their relatively weak statistics previous European Championship tournaments, where at best they have only made the quarter-finals twice.

In the last two European Championships, they were eliminated at the last sixteen stage, with their most recent knockout coming against Spain after extra time in a dramatic match. With several veteran stars in their squad, many believe that this is the last chance for the Croatian “golden generation” to achieve European success.

Croatia have also had a few good results ahead of the opening game, by winning four of their last five friendly games including a 2-1 victory away to Portugal. We predict an exciting showdown in Berlin!

Who will win the match between Spain and Croatia?

The game looks to be an even one heading in, as both sides have proven to be two of Europe’s best over recent years. Spain, however, will still be seen as the favourites for both this match in particular as well as in the group overall. Being the group winner provides the easiest path for the knockouts, making these three points absolutely crucial.

Both teams will without a doubt go for victory in the important opening game in Group B, and both Spain and Croatia are likely to field their strongest teams in Berlin.
