Last result between the two:Â Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea, December 2021
Broadcast:Â Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League
Both Aston Villa and Chelsea have had very mixed starts to their seasons. They started the season with high expectations after making some massive signings. Villa have been a mixed bag under Gerrard, while Chelsea have sacked yet another manager.
Chelsea looking for fourth straight victory
Just over a month ago there was a change in management at Chelsea football club. Champions League winning boss Thomas Tuchel was sacked and quickly replaced by Graham Potter. A British manager who has turned the eyes of many clubs after an impressive stint with Brighton. The goals for Chelsea under new owner Todd Boehly are clear, they want to win over long periods.
Chelsea’s summer signings have begun to settle in and there are already talks of more. French star Christopher Nkunku has reportedly agreed to sign for Chelsea next summer, after supposedly undergoing a secret medical last summer. As of now, Chelsea have a fantastic squad with fantastic poise to win some trophies this season.
It hasn’t taken long for Potter to settle in, winning his last three which included an impressive 3-0 romping of AC Milan in the Champions League.
There is a very high chance of Chelsea coming out on top at Villa Park. The new manager boost has been strong for the blues, morale is high and it would be a shock to see them suffer defeat.
Our Chelsea Pick
Our Chelsea theme involves them winning the game with a few extras to boost the odds. We can see Chelsea once again easing to victory under Potter. Our pick is Chelsea to win both halves.

Villa slipping behind under Stevie G
Aston Villa have a fantastic squad, since their promotion to the Premier League they have spent and sold well. The loss of Jack Grealish last summer didn’t impact them nearly as much as we’d thought it would.
They brought in creative replacements in Phillipe Coutinho and Emi Buendia. The South American duo haven’t been as prevalent as Grealish was but they have both been great signings. Jacob Ramsay coming through the ranks has also helped them in midfield.
Their marquee signing last summer was Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos. He was ruled out for a lengthy period very early on and it’s clear that they’ve missed him. Villa’s squad on paper is brilliant but Gerrard is struggling to get a tune out of them, if things continue it would come as no shock to see the scouser sacked.
They should be competing around the top half and pushing for Europe, not anywhere near the relegation zone which they’re currently just 3 points above.
Our Aston Villa Pick
If you’re looking to back the Villa then you’re in luck as the prices will offer some great returns. If Villa are to win, it’s likely to be 1-0. If Chelsea score one, their momentum will likely see them score more. Our pick is for Aston Villa to win to nil’.
Aston Villa vs Chelsea Odds: Our Predictions
We can see this game going one way, Chelsea’s. Potter’s side will have too much firepower for Villa’s shaky defence. We can see it being a comfortable 3-0 victory. The odds of this are 14/1.
