Leicester travel to Chelsea on Saturday with both teams looking to bounce back from disappointing results last weekend, the Blues thumped 3-0 at Leeds while the Foxes lost at home to Southampton.

While Chelsea were tipped for the top four and Leicester were expected to compete for European football, both teams sit in the bottom half of the league table at this very early stage of the season.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are strong favourites in the Chelsea v Leicester odds to win having gone unbeaten for five home league games, but this fixture ended in a 1-1 draw when it was played last term.

Koulibaly ban adds to defensive woes

Having lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of their contracts, the spotlight was always going to be on Chelsea’s back line this season and, so far, they have been struggling.

After the Blues kept out Everton in a 1-0 win on the opening weekend, they have since conceded five times in their last two matches and were exposed by Leeds’ energy at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

To compound that heavy defeat, key  summer signing Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off in the latter stages of the game and will be suspended for the visit of Leicester this weekend.

Chelsea are still trying to sign new defenders – Foxes centre-back Wesley Fofana is a top target and they have also been linked with Manchester United captain Harry Maguire – but it is uncertain whether or not a new arrival will be brought in to play in this game.

Leicester have had a slow summer in the transfer market and their inability to make new signings has been followed by taking one point from their three matches so far in the new Premier League season.

They have conceded eight goals already and key defender Fofana is unlikely to be available for the trip to Stamford Bridge as he continues to be linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge. Leicester have also repelled interest in playmaker James Maddison, who scored a great goal for the Foxes last weekend.

It is hard to look beyond the Blues in the Chelsea v Leicester betting odds but, as the Foxes have scored five goals this season, they are sure to pose a threat of their own as well.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in eight of Leicester’s last nine Premier League games so there should be plenty of entertainment at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Over 2.5 goals is 8/13 with 888.

Those looking at the correct scores options could find 10/1 on a 3-1 win to Chelsea stands out for value.
