Newcastle vs Chelsea Odds: Can Potter defy the odds?
When? Saturday 12th November 2022
Where? St James’ Park, Newcastle
Broadcast: Sky Sports PL & Main Event
Latest result: Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle, March 13th, 2022
This Saturday evening, we will see Graham Potters’ Chelsea take on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Newcastle go into the match as favourites, which is quite surreal. We expected them to improve under new ownership, but not this quickly! Howe has transformed the mindset of this Newcastle team and has added some excellent new recruits.
Their scintillating form has been encapsulated by Premier League player of the month nominations for three Newcastle players! Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier have all been nominated for the prize.
On the other hand, Chelsea’s form has dipped significantly and the rust is starting to show under Potter. They haven’t won for more than three weeks in the league, with their last two games ending in defeat to Brighton and Arsenal.
New look Newcastle reaching new heights
Newcastle United have been making waves this season and I mean serious waves. Midway through last season, long term owner Mike Ashley sold his shares in the club to a Saudi led investment group.
Newcastle became the richest club in the Premier League overnight and we knew it was a matter of time before they were competing at the highest level again.
I don’t think anybody quite expected it to be this season though. Newcastle are currently sat third in the league. Above Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. Could we see Newcastle mount a serious top four challenge, can they maintain this form after the World Cup?
The Newcastle vs Chelsea odds have Newcastle as the favourites. We don’t have an exact statistic but we’re sure this must be the first time Newcastle have been favourites in this fixture for years.
The Magpies are 5/4 to win on 888sport, but we’d recommend backing both teams to score as well. Which comes in at 13/4. Another top pick is Callum Wilson to score first at 9/2.
Chelsea need a boost
It’s been an interesting season so far for Chelsea. The word that rings around Stamford Bridge at the moment is ‘consistency’. Graham Potter has settled in at the club but the new manager boost is most definitely over.
Chelsea’s last two games have both ended in defeat. One against Arsenal and a shocking 4-1 defeat to Graham Potter’s former employers Brighton. It’s a rough spell for Chelsea, they need to turn things around sooner rather than later. Defeat could see them drop as low as 10th.
Potter’s side will need to defy the odds to win this one. The Newcastle vs Chelsea odds have them at 2/1 to win. Although, as we said with our Newcastle pick we think both teams will score. Chelsea to win with both teams to score is at 9/2.
Newcastle vs Chelsea Odds: Match Predictions
This is a very tough game for both sides, a win means so much to both. The gap in form between the sides is massive.
Chelsea’s form means they need a win, they will begin to fall down the pecking order with defeat. Potter will throw everything to win this one as will Howe. We think it’ll be an end to end affair with a 2-2 draw.
888sport have this result at 12/1. Check it out here!
