Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview
There’s a lot at stake on Thursday when it’s time for the London derby as Tottenham host Chelsea. You can watch Tottenham vs Chelsea live on BT Sports.
Tottenham in trouble
Tottenham finished January weak with defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, but what could be even more frustrating is the injury to Harry Kane. Kane has been involved in 23 of Spurs’ 34 goals this season with 12 goals and 11 assists. His outstanding interplay with Son has carried Tottenham this season so far and Kane’s injury has caused Mourinho many headaches. Of the last 13 games Spurs have played without Kane, they have only won 3 of them (3 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats).
Spurs were having a good streak with a run of eight games without defeat before the loss to Liverpool. Ever since, they have lost track, reaching the rock bottom with a defeat to Brighton. They were the first top team to lose to Brighton away from home.
Can Tuchel bring a change?
Chelsea’s new era with Thomas Tuchel as manager has started with a win against Burnley and a draw against Wolves. Beforehand, Lampard had to leave after a poor spell and season. Take a look at all Chelsea managers under Abramovich here. Now it’s up to Tuchel to get the most out of the likes of Werner, Havertz and others. Will we see a stronger Chelsea side with the new coach?
Both teams are predominantly struggling with goalscoring. We expect the same for Thursday, as in only one of the last four meetings between the teams have either team scored.
Tottenham vs Chelsea: Standings
Ahead of the game, Tottenham is above Chelsea on goal difference. Spurs also have a match less on their account, but the score is the same (33 points). A loss here and it may start to blow slightly for Mourinho.
Behind Spurs and Chelsea, also on 33 points, there is Everton, Aston Villa with 32 and Arsenal with 31.
