Winter Olympic Games 2022
In the end, Team GB ended the 2022 Winter Olympics with just two medals. The only gold medal coming from he women's curlers, who beat Japan on the final day. The men's team returned with a silver medal after winning on Saturday.Beijing was chosen as the host city at the 128th IOC session in Kuala Lumpur in July 2015. The 2022 Winter Olympics became the first ever Winter Olympics in China and the second overall to be held in China, after the 2008 Summer Olympics, also in Beijing. For the first time, the Winter Olympics were held in a city that previously hosted the Summer Olympics; four existing halls, which were originally built for the 2008 Games, as well as the Beijing National Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies took place, were used.
Boycott proposals were among the concerns and controversies surrounding the 2022 Winter Olympics. For example, the US government did not send an official US delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing to take a stand against China's ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang.
