Winter Olympic Games 2022

Beijing was chosen as the host city at the 128th IOC session in Kuala Lumpur in July 2015. The 2022 Winter Olympics will be the first ever Winter Olympics in China and the second overall to be held in China, after the 2008 Summer Olympics, also in Beijing. For the first time, the Winter Olympics will be held in a city that previously hosted the Summer Olympics; four existing halls, which were originally built for the 2008 Games, as well as the Beijing National Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies will take place, will be used. Boycott proposals are among the concerns and controversies surrounding the 2022 Winter Olympics. For example, the US government will not send an official US delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing to take a stand against China's ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang.
