Final of the EURO | Italy vs. England
Sunday 11.7, at 20:00 – 📺 ITV & BBC
London’s Wembley Stadium will be packed on Sunday night as England reaches for their first European Championship title. Gareth Southgate’s young side have fought their way through to the final with strong defence and ice-cold efficiency.
There they will face none other than Italy. After losing two finals in the last 20 years, the Azzurri finally want to win their second European Championship. At the current tournament, they presented themselves, untypically for Italy, in attacking form and thrilled with exhilarating offensive football. Therefore, Italy are slight favourites going into the match.
Copa America Final | Argentina vs Brazil
Monday, 12 July at 00.00 – 📺 BBC Red Button & BBC iPlayer
The Copa America final is upon us, too. In the South American equivalent of the European Championship, Brazil versus Argentina will be the dream final between the two giants of the continent. Both the home team Brazil and Argentina have gone the entire tournament without defeat.
Things got tight for Argentina in the semi-finals. Their place in the final was only secured after a penalty shoot out against Colombia. Lionel Messi leads the tournament’s scoring charts with four goals and will try to secure Argentina’s first title on the continent since 1993. Sunday will also see the clash of the superstars: Messi vs Neymar.
Brazil’s greatest strength in this tournament, however, has been their defence. They have conceded only two goals in six matches.
24 hours earlier, Colombia and Peru will play the Copa America bronze medal match.
Wimbledon Finals
Women’s final on Saturday 10 July at 16.00 – 📺 BBC
Men’s final on Sunday, 11 July at 16.00 – 📺 BBC
In the women’s tournament at Wimbledon, crowd favourite Serena Williams had to retire in the first round due to injury. Simona Halep, the defending champion, was also unable to defend her title due to injury. In the women’s final, top seed Ashleigh Barty and Czech Karolina Pliskova will be aiming for their first win on Wimbledon grass.
In the men’s singles, Roger Federer was defeated in the quarter-finals. The Swiss will therefore not play for his ninth Wimbledon title. Novak Djokovic was the big favourite before the tournament, and the Serbian made it to the final with ease. There he will face Mario Berrettini for his 20th major title, which would be a historical one. He would then tie on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who both have 20, too.
Tour de France – Stage 15
Sunday, 11 July from 12:10 – 📺 Eurosport 1, ITV4, S4C, TG4
The Tour de France drops in on the Pyrenees this weekend. The highest point of Sunday’s 15th stage (and the whole Tour) is in Port d’Envalira, Andorra, at an altitude of 2,408 metres. The stage ends with a steep descent, after the Col de Beixalis has to be overcome beforehand. Defending champion Tadej Pogacar is in good form again this year and the top favourite for the overall victory. Behind him, Jonas Vingegaard, Rigoberto Uran and Richard Carapaz are hoping for a bad day for the Slovenian.
UFC | McGregor vs Poirier III
Sunday 11.7, at 00.00 – 📺 BT Sport 2
Irish freestyle star Conor McGregor and American Dustin Pirier face each other for the third time this weekend at UFC 264 in Las Vegas. After the first two fights, the score is 1-1. Both fights were decided by knockout.
NBA Finals | Milwaukee Bucks vs Phoenix Suns
Monday, 12 July at 01:00 – Sky Sport Main Event & Arena
The NBA Finals promise a real thriller. The Phoenix Suns won the first game by 13 points, led by Chris Paul. Phoenix also won the second game. Milwaukee is therefore already under a lot of pressure in the third game on Sunday. Khris Middleton is one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA. With Giannis Antetokounmpo also in good form, Milwaukee enters the third match up on home floor as slight favourites. To win the NBA Finals, 4 wins are needed.
