Darts World Grand Prix 2021 – Preview

It was Gerwyn Price who defeated debutant Dirk van Duijvenbode in last year’s edition of the BoyleSports Darts World Grand Prix 2021. The icemen will try to defend his title in 2021. The event will take place from October 3 to October 9 and will be held at the Morningside Arena in Leicester.

Background of the BoyleSports World Grand Prix 2021

The World Grand Prix is one of the biggest events on the PDC Darts Tour. It is considered the only televised tournament where players have to start and finish each leg with a double or bullseye. Accordingly the favourites tend to be good “finishers” rather than strong scorers.

The Grand Prix was first played in Kent in 1998. With 11 titles Phil Taylor is the undisputed record winner. Michael van Gerwen follows with 5 wins.

The winner of the tournament receives 110,000 pounds in prize money. In total, there are almost 220,000 pounds in the prize pot.
