Historical Background

Leeds United F.C. is a professional football club that currently plays in the EFL (English Football League) Championship! The club was founded on October 17th, in 1919, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, shortly after Leeds City F.C. was dissolved.

It didn't take long for them to begin their professional career! In 1920, they were elected into the Football League (what is nowadays known as the EFL), and in 1924, they managed to win the Football League Second Division for the first time!

The Mighty, Mighty Whites!

Crest and Colours 

The first kit had blue-and-white striped shirts, white shorts, and dark blue socks. This was changed in 1934 to blue-and-yellow halved shirts and blue socks with yellow tops. Then, in 1948, they wore a yellow shirt with blue sleeves and collars and blue-and-yellow striped socks.

The white shorts were changed to black between 1950 and 1955. Then, in 1955, white shorts were used again and the shirts were changed to blue with yellow collars, with the same socks. Finally in 1961, the team changed to all-white kits, a decision inspired by the great Real Madrid.

The first crest, worn from 1934 until 1960, was similar to the city crest of Leeds. Then, a perched owl was used from 1965 to 1971, when the initials LUFC written diagonally were used. This was until 1973, when the initials LU shaped like a smiley-face were used; variations of this badge were used until 1981.

Afterwards, it was changed to a peacock encircled by the words 'Leeds United AFC'. Then, in 1984, a badge bearing the White Rose of York with a football in its middle and the words 'Leeds United AFC' on its petals came into use. Then came the current badge in 1999: a shield, containing the previous badge and the initials LUFC.

Stadium

Unlike their kit and crest, Leeds United have held onto the same ground since their beginning! Taking over the stadium used by Leeds City, Elland Road, the team hasn't budged from there since!

Key Players 

There's an awful lot to mention, but we'd be rather amiss if we don't mention Pablo Hernández, who won Player of the Year in 2018 and has scored 12 goals this season! Then we must mention Liam Cooper, the team's captain, whose current rating is 7.31, tied with Hernández!

Records and Noteworthy Stats 

The Whites have proved themselves to be mighty by winning the Football League First Division 3 times, the Football League Second Division 3 times, the FA Cup once, the EFL Cup once, the FA Community Shield twice and the now-defunct Inter-Cities Fairs Cup twice!
