History of the Grand National

As previously mentioned, the Grand National is one of the most historic and prestigious horse raced held annually at Aintree Racecourse in the North-West of England, just outside of Liverpool. The race was initially formed way back in 1839 by William Lynn and is now one of the most watched horse races worldwide.

The Grand National is famously known for having a very demanding racecourse with over 30 fences and intense obstacles, including The Chair and Becher’s Brook. The Grand National has remained a fan favourite despite undergoing changes over the years and brings a feeling of tradition and anticipation on a yearly basis to those who are fans of the sport.
