English football league system resembles a pyramid

The Most Important Transfers in Premier League History

As you can well imagine, the most important transfers ever made are worth millions upon millions, and you’d be right! However, we’ll kick this article off with an important transfer that might not expect, and that’s the first ever record-setting transfer made in the Premier League. This transfer was made in 1992, a bit before the league’s first season.

The transfer was made for Alan Shearer from Southampton to the Blackburn Rovers, and it costed the Rovers over £3 million. Talk about the start of the first season! This first transfer was also a trendsetter, as the transfers only increased in value from there: in fact, the current record of the most expensive transfer paid by a Premier League club is £89.2 million!

The transfer was paid by Manchester United in 2016 for Paul Pogba to transfer from Juventus. That’s one hell of a paycheck, huh? Finally, the biggest transfer ever made involving a Premier League club was in 2018, when Barcelona paid Liverpool over £106 million for Philippe Coutinho, making it one of the most expensive transfers in football history!

The Latest Juicy Transfer Rumours

Currently, PSG are looking to transfer Neymar to another club after the deal with Barcelona fell through. They told Manchester United that if they can cover Neymar’s wages and a fee of £18.4 million, he’s as good as theirs. Juventus has recently made a bid for United’s Paul Pogba. It seems that Juventus were quite desperate for Pogba as they were willing to offer 3 players for him.

However, United don’t seem to be willing to let go. Furthermore, it seems that United attempting to buy Christian Eriksen off the Tottenham Hotspurs after other clubs have offered disappointing deals. With only a few days left before the transfer window closes, United are hoping that the Spurs will compromise on the price for Eriksen.

Speaking of the Spurs, they recently finished off the deal to transfer Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for £55 million, making it a record transfer for the Spurs. On another note, Arsenal have secured Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos on loan for the current season, with both Arsenal and Ceballos being excited about the move.
Moreover, Chelsea have earned £91.66 million from their transfer of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, despite the club’s wishing for Hazard to stay. However, they’ve secured a new player in their midst: Christian Pulisic from BVB for a transfer fee of £58 million. Finally, Manchester City have set a record with their £62.8 million transfer of Rodri from Atlético Madrid. Both Rodri and Man City seem pleased with the transfer.
